A shocking incident unfolded in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, where a 45-year-old social media influencer and beautician, Nisha Chauhan, was allegedly murdered by her husband, Pradeep.
MEERUT: A property dispute allegedly turned fatal in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut district on Friday when a 45-year-old beautician and social media influencer was stabbed to death by her husband, police said.The victim, identified as Nisha Chauhan, was allegedly attacked at her home in Harra town under the Sarurpur police station limits. Police said her husband, Pradeep, repeatedly stabbed her following an argument over the ownership of a plot of land, as reported by news agency PTI.The couple was married nearly 18 years ago and have three kids. Her husband, Pradeep Kumar, previously worked as AC mechanic in Dubai and had returned to India an year ago.“On Friday morning around 6 am, the couple had a heated argument over registry of a newly purchased land. Nisha wanted land to be registered in her name as she had given the maximum share. However, Pradeep doubted her character and feared that she could elope with the property” said SHO Sururpur Gaurav Singh.Singh further informed that following the argument Pradeep went upstairs to get a kitchen knife and stabbed Nisha in her neck and wrist.
“The couple’s eldest son, 17, tried to invervene but was injured in the fight. He rushed to call neighbors and by the time they arrived Pradeep had stabbed Nisha multiple times and even himself in chest and stomach. Nisha succumbed while Pradeep is admitted in the hospital”.According to circle officer (Sardhana) Ashutosh Kumar, police and forensic teams reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the couple had been arguing over registering the property in their respective names when the assault took place.After allegedly killing his wife, Pradeep stabbed himself in an apparent suicide attempt. He was admitted to a hospital, where he remains under treatment.Police have sent Nisha's body for post-mortem examination and are continuing their investigation into the case.(With PTI inputs)
